Removing the flash/RAID adapter

Use these instructions to remove the flash/RAID adapter from the storage expansion node.

Before you remove the flash/RAID adapter, complete the following steps:

  1. Read Safety and Installation guidelines.
  2. If the storage expansion node assembly is installed in an Flex System Enterprise Chassis, remove it (see Removing the storage expansion node assembly from the Flex System Enterprise Chassis for instructions).
  3. Carefully lay the storage expansion node assembly on a flat, static-protective surface.
  4. Remove the cover from the storage expansion node (see Removing the cover from the storage expansion node for instructions).
    Attention: Make sure that the drive drawer is supported when it is open. The weight of installed drives can cause the storage expansion node assembly to be unstable when the drive drawer is open.
  5. Open the drive drawer approximately 30 cm (12 in.).
  6. See the illustration in System board for the location of the flash/RAID adapter connector.

To remove the flash/RAID adapter, complete the following steps.

  1. Disconnect the connector from the flash/RAID adapter.
  2. Press the blue latch on the flash/RAID adapter connector slightly away from the adapter and then down to release the adapter from the connector.
  3. Press the small black retention clip toward the inside wall of the storage expansion node and pull the adapter out of the connector.

If you are installing a replacement flash/RAID adapter, continue to Replacing the flash/RAID adapter. If you are instructed to return the flash/RAID adapter, follow all packaging instructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.

If you are not installing a replacement flash/RAID adapter, close the drive drawer and go to Completing the installation.
