The system board executes all the major logic functions of the storage expansion node.

- Flash/RAID adapter connector
- The storage expansion node supports an optional 512 MB or 1 GB flash/RAID adapter.
- Light path diagnostics LEDs and light path button
- Light path diagnostics is a system of LEDs in the storage expansion node and the attached compute node that you can use to diagnose problems. For more information, see Light path diagnostics.
