Installing the low-profile PCIe riser

Use these instructions to install the low-profile PCIe riser in the PCIe Expansion Node.

Before installing the PCIe Expansion Node low-profile PCIe riser, read Safety and Installation guidelines.

CAUTION:
Hazardous energy is present when the blade is connected to the power source. Always replace the blade cover before installing the blade.
Important: The low-profile PCIe riser must be installed in the expansion node or the system will not operate. If the riser is not installed, the compute node will not power on.

To install the PCIe Expansion Node low-profile PCIe riser, complete the following steps:

  1. Install the PCIe adapters in the low-profile PCIe riser, if any were removed (see Installing a low-profile adapter for instructions).
  2. Orient the alignment slots on the right side of the low-profile PCIe riser to the alignment posts inside the PCIe Expansion Node and slide the PCIe riser over the posts.

  3. Firmly press on the blue touch points to seat the low-profile PCIe riser in the system board connector.
After installing the low-profile PCIe riser, complete the following steps:
  1. Install the cover. See Installing the cover for instructions.
  2. Install the PCIe Expansion Node into the chassis. See Installing the PCIe Expansion Node with compute node host for instructions.
