Removing a solid state drive mounting sleeve

Use this information to remove an optional solid state drive mounting sleeve. A solid state drive mounting sleeve can be installed in the upper and lower compute nodes. The solid state drive mounting sleeve is required to install optional 1.8-inch hot-swap solid-state drives (SSDs).

Before you remove a solid state drive mounting sleeve, complete the following steps:

  1. Read Safety and Installation guidelines.
  2. If the Flex System x222 Compute Node is installed in a chassis, remove it (see Removing a compute node from a chassis for instructions).
  3. Carefully lay the compute node on a flat, static-protective surface, orienting the compute node with the bezel pointing toward the left.

To remove a solid state drive mounting sleeve, complete the following steps.

  1. Remove the upper compute node (see Removing the upper compute node).
  2. Locate the solid state drive mounting sleeve on the upper or lower compute node.
  3. Remove any SSD disk drives (see Removing a solid state drive).
  4. Press the release tabs at the rear of the solid state drive mounting sleeve.
  5. Slide the solid state drive mounting sleeve froward, away from the compute node, and remove it from the bay.
If you are instructed to return a solid state drive mounting sleeve, follow all packaging instructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
