Unable to find update compliance task logs

The log files produced by the update compliance policies for a given system are not found with the log files for tasks run on that system.

The update compliance task cannot be found on the Task Management > Active and Scheduled Jobs page.

Explanation

The update compliance task is run automatically when changes happen such as the import or acquisition of new updates, the completion of inventory collection on a system, or changes to the membership of a group in a compliance policy. Since the task is run automatically by update manager as opposed to being scheduled by a user, it does not appear in the Active and Scheduled Jobs page.

Resolution

The compliance task information, including it's logs, can be viewed from the system that compliance was run against, by following these steps:
  1. Click Resource Explorer > All Systems group.
  2. Choose the appropriate system.
  3. Click Actions > Properties > Applied Activities.
  4. Choose the Update Compliance link of interest to view its status, history, logs, and so forth.
