Removing an SD card

Use this information to remove an SD card.

Before you remove an SD card, complete the following steps:
  1. Read Safety and Installation guidelines.
  2. If the compute node is installed in a chassis, remove it (see Removing a compute node from a chassis for instructions).
  3. Carefully lay the compute node on a flat, static-protective surface, orienting the compute node with the bezel pointing toward you.

To remove an SD card, complete the following steps.

Graphic illustrating the removal of an SD card

  1. Remove the cover (see Removing the compute node cover).
  2. If an I/O expansion adapter is installed over the Adapter for SD Media, remove it (see Removing an I/O expansion adapter).
  3. Press the SD card further into its connector and release.
  4. Pull the SD card out of the connector. Most SD cards have a finger-nail slot at the top, rear edge to make them easier to grasp.
Note: If you are unable to remove the SD card with the Adapter for SD media installed in the compute node, remove the Adapter for SD media from the compute node (see Removing the SD Media Adapter for System x).
If you are instructed to return an SD card, follow all packaging instructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
