Use these instructions to remove the storage expansion node from
the expansion shelf.
Before you begin
Before you remove the storage expansion node,
complete the following steps:
- Read Safety and Installation guidelines.
- Remove any drives that are installed in the storage expansion node.
- If the storage expansion node assembly
is installed in an Flex System Enterprise Chassis,
remove it (see Removing the storage expansion node assembly from the Flex System Enterprise Chassis for
instructions).
- Carefully lay the storage expansion node assembly
on a flat, static-protective surface with the storage expansion node bezel
facing you.
- If a compute node is installed in the storage expansion node assembly,
complete the following steps:
- Remove the compute node cover (see the compute node Installation
and Service Guide for instructions).
- If any I/O expansion adapters in the compute node are blocking
access to the interposer connector, remove them (see the compute node Installation
and Service Guide for instructions).
- Disconnect the interposer cable from the interposer connector
on the compute node system board.
- If you removed any I/O expansion adapters from the compute node,
install them (see the compute node Installation and Service Guide for
instructions).
- Install the compute node cover (see the compute node Installation
and Service Guide for instructions).
- If a flash/RAID adapter and flash power module are installed in
the storage expansion node,
remove them (see Removing the flash/RAID adapter and Removing the flash power module for instructions).
Procedure
On
the underside of the expansion shelf, lift the raised edge of the
retaining latch that secures the storage expansion node to
the shelf while you slide the storage expansion node away
from the center of the shelf, as shown in the following illustration.
What to do next
If you are instructed to
return the storage expansion node,
follow all packaging instructions, and use any packaging materials
for shipping that are supplied to you.
