The base model of the IB6131 switch has thirty two 4x Quad Data Rate (QDR) ports. Fourteen of the ports are connected internally through the chassis to the InfiniBand adapters in the compute nodes. You can use the remaining eighteen external Quad Small Form-factor Pluggable (QSFP) ports to connect the switch to a larger topology or to connect external nodes to the internal chassis subnet.
The IB6131 switch also has an optional feature for X Architecture compute nodes that enables you to upgrade the switch from QDR to Fourteen Data Rate (FDR).
