Lenovo Flex System EN4023 10Gb Scalable Switch

The Flex System EN4023 10Gb Scalable Switch design is based on the Brocade VDX switch technology, and it enables you to deploy the new Brocade Virtual Cluster Switching (VCS) fabric to devices that are installed in the Flex System chassis. The high-performance features of this switch are designed to meet the demands of today's highly virtualized environments and cloud-based architectures.

The EN4023 is a highly scalable switch that can support 42 internal 10 Gb ports and 14 external SFP+ ports, which are capable of running 10-Gbps Ethernet and 8-Gbps and 16-Gbps Fibre Channel. Also included are two external Quad SFP (QSFP) ports that can support 40-Gbps Ethernet or 4x10-Gbps Ethernet in breakout mode. The entry configuration of this scalable switch provides 24 internal or external 10 Gb Ethernet ports with Dynamic Port on Demand capability. This capability allows you to use any 24 of the 56 internal or external 10 Gb ports. The entry configuration does not support 40 Gb ports, but with the optional upgrades 1 and 2 for pay-as-you-grow scalability, you easily and cost-effectively can scale this switch to support up to 64 internal or external 10 Gb ports, or up to 56 internal or external 10 Gb ports and two 40 Gb ports. Upgrade 3 allows you to attach FC devices to run encapsulated FC over Ethernet (FCoE) traffic through the switch.
  • Features on Demand upgrades are available for the entry configuration as follows:
    • Upgrade 1 turns on an additional 16 internal or external 10 Gb ports with Dynamic Port on Demand capability and two 40 Gb ports (for a total of forty 10 Gb ports and two 40 Gb ports)
    • Upgrade 2 turns on an additional 16 internal or external 10 Gb ports with Dynamic Port on Demand capability (for a total of fifty six 10 Gb ports and two 40 Gb ports)
    • Upgrade 3 allows you to attach FC devices to run encapsulated FC over Ethernet (FCoE) traffic through the switch

Software, device drivers, and firmware updates are available for this switch at Fix Central.
