When diagnosing a problem with a device installed in a Lenovo Flex System Enterprise Chassis that
is being managed by a IBM Flex System Manager management
node, you can use the scoreboard or the Chassis Manager. These views
provide a single interface to which all events generated by any device
within the chassis are sent.
From the
IBM Flex System Manager user
interface, you can use one of two views to begin diagnosing a problem:
- Scoreboard. The scoreboard is located at the top of the IBM Flex System Manager user interface.
By
default, it shows the number of problems and compliance issues. You
can click on the problems to see the Active Status view, which lists
all problems for all managed chassis and managed endpoints with those
chassis.
Note: The problems displayed in the Active Status view might
not correlate directly to specific events listed in the event log.
The IBM Flex System Manager determines
which problems to display based on those events.
From
the Active Status view, you can sort columns, such as Severity or
System to group problems together. In addition, you can apply filters
to the Active Status view to show only critical errors.
- Chassis Manager. Use the Chassis Manager to see a graphical view
of a selected chassis. From the Chassis Manager, you can quickly determine
whether there are any known problems with the devices in the chassis.
Select a chassis and the click on the chassis or any of the devices
in the chassis to display properties at the bottom of the page. Click Show
Advanced Properties to see the following tabs:
Select one of the
following tabs:
- Active status. contains all events that are designated as problems
by IBM Flex System Manager management
node, including problems on the IBM Flex System Manager management
node itself.
Note: To hide an IBM Flex System Manager status entry
that is showing as active for a condition reported by the CMM, use
the "Ignore" action on the IBM Flex System Manager from the Problems/Active
Status view. If the status entry is deleted (i.e., rather than ignored)
on the IBM Flex System Manager and
the condition remains active on the CMM, the next resynchronization
with the CMM will cause the status entry to be reasserted on the IBM Flex System Manager.
- Event log tab. The event log contains all events
(not just problems or errors) that have been sent to the IBM Flex System Manager from all managed
resources, including the CMM, compute nodes, and platform managers
installed on the compute node. In some cases a single event on a compute
node, such as a microprocessor error, might generate multiple events
in the event log.
