To use the Setup utility to configure the boot protocol
to boot from a non-UEFI legacy network device for all PXE boot attempts,
complete the following steps:
Note: This option disables UEFI ROMs from loading
and enables the compute node to boot in legacy mode only.
- Connect a keyboard, monitor, and mouse to the console breakout cable and
connect the console breakout cable to
the compute node.
- Turn on the compute node (see Turning on the compute node).
- When the prompt Press <F1> Setup is displayed,
press F1. If you have set an administrator password, you must type
the administrator password to access the full Setup utility menu.
If you do not type the administrator password, a limited Setup utility
menu is available.
- From the Setup utility main menu, select Boot Manager.
- Select Boot Modes; then select Legacy Only.
- Press Esc twice to return to the Boot Manager menu.
- Select Change Boot Order and move the non-UEFI
legacy network device to the top of the boot order.
- Press Esc twice to return to the Setup utility main menu.
- Select Save Settings and then select Exit Setup.
To use the Setup utility to configure the boot protocol

complete the following steps:
- Connect a keyboard, monitor, and mouse to the console breakout cable and
connect the console breakout cable to
the compute node.
- Turn on the compute node (see Turning on the compute node).
- When the prompt Press <F1> Setup is displayed,
press F1. If you have set an administrator password, you must type
the administrator password to access the full Setup utility menu.
If you do not type the administrator password, a limited Setup utility
menu is available.
- From the Setup utility main menu, select Boot Manager.
- Select Add Boot Option; then select Generic Boot Option.
- Select Legacy Only.
- Press Esc three times to return to the Setup utility main menu.
- Select Save Settings and then select Exit Setup.
