The following replaceable components are available for the IBM® Flex System x240 Compute Node Types 7863, 8737, 8738, and 8956.

Replaceable components consist of consumable parts, structural parts, and customer replaceable units (CRUs):
  • Consumable parts: Purchase and replacement of consumable parts (components such as printer cartridges, that have depletable life) is your responsibility. If IBM acquires or installs a consumable part at your request, you will be charged for the installation.
  • Structural parts: Purchase and replacement of structural parts (components such as the top cover) is your responsibility. If IBM acquires or installs a structural part at your request, you will be charged for the installation.
  • Tier 1 customer replaceable unit (CRU): Replacement of Tier 1 CRUs is your responsibility. If IBM installs a Tier 1 CRU at your request without a service contract, you will be charged for the installation.
  • Tier 2 customer replaceable unit: You may install a Tier 2 CRU yourself or request IBM to install it, at no additional charge, under the type of warranty service that is designated for your compute node.

  1. V2 models only. Not supported in models 8737 - A1x, D2x, F2x, G2x, H1x, H2x, J1x, HBC, L2x, M1x, M2x, N2x, Q2x, R2x, or 8738 - H1x, H2x
  2. Use of the E5-2667V2 processor in the Flex System x240 V2 compute node is limited to 30 degrees C up to 3000 feet. Above 3000 feet, a de-rating of 1 degree C for every 600 feet should be applied. Use of the ServeRAID M5115 SAS/SATA RAID Controller with the E5-2667V2 processor is not supported.
  3. Flex System x240 configurations using the E5-2667V2 processor will operate at acoustic levels significantly greater than typical Flex System levels, and the following noise hazard warning may apply:
    Important: Government regulations (such as those prescribed by OSHA or European Community Directives) may govern noise level exposure in the workplace and may apply to you and your server installation. The actual sound pressure levels in your installation depend upon a variety of factors, including the number of racks in the installation; the size, materials, and configuration of the room; the noise levels from other equipment; the room ambient temperature, and employees’ location in relation to the equipment. Further, compliance with such government regulations also depends upon a variety of additional factors, including the duration of employees’ exposure and whether employees wear hearing protection. You should consult with qualified experts in this field to determine whether you are in compliance with the applicable regulations.

Consumable and structural parts

Consumable and structural parts are not covered by the IBM Statement of Limited Warranty.
