To use the Setup utility to configure the boot
protocol for the upper or lower compute node to boot from a non-UEFI
legacy network device for all PXE boot attempts, complete the following
steps.
Attention:
- The KVM connectors on the upper and lower compute nodes are rotated
180-degrees from each other. Make sure that the connector on the console
breakout cable is correctly oriented before connecting it.
- Use only the console breakout cable that
comes with the compute node. Attempting to connect other console breakout cable types
might damage the console breakout cable and
the compute node.
Note: This option disables UEFI ROMs from loading
and enables the upper or lower compute node to boot in legacy mode
only.
- Connect a keyboard, monitor, and mouse to the console breakout cable and
connect the console breakout cable to
the compute node.
- Turn on the compute node (see Turning on a compute node).
- When the prompt Press <F1> Setup is displayed,
press F1. If you have set an administrator password, you must type
the administrator password to access the full Setup utility menu.
If you do not type the administrator password, a limited Setup utility
menu is available.
- From the Setup utility main menu, select Boot Manager.
- Select Boot Modes; then select Legacy Only.
- Press Esc twice to return to the Boot Manager menu.
- Select Change Boot Order and move the non-UEFI legacy network
device to the top of the boot order.
- Press Esc twice to return to the Setup utility main menu.
- Select Save Settings and then select Exit Setup.
