Removing a bezel

Use this information to remove a bezel. There is a bezel on both the upper and lower compute nodes.

Before you remove a bezel from a compute node, complete the following steps:

  1. Read Safety and Installation guidelines.
  2. If the Flex System x222 Compute Node is installed in a chassis, remove it (see Removing a compute node from a chassis for instructions).
  3. Carefully lay the compute node on a flat, static-protective surface, orienting the compute node with the bezel pointing toward the left.

The upper and lower compute nodes come with separate bezels. Bezels for the upper and lower compute nodes are not interchangeable.

If an upper compute node that you are replacing came with an RFID tag attached to the bezel, you must obtain and install a replacement RFID tag.

To remove a bezel, complete the following steps.

  1. Use a flat-blade screwdriver to carefully pull the bezel from the upper or lower compute node.
  2. Lift the bezel from the compute node.

If you are instructed to return a bezel, follow all packaging instructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you. If you are replacing a bezel, do not discard the old bezel until you are sure that it is no longer needed.
