Use this information to install the fabric connector.
There is no fabric connector
in the upper compute node; the upper and lower compute nodes share
the fabric connector in the lower compute node.
Before you install the
fabric connector
in the lower compute node, complete the following steps:
- Read Safety and Installation guidelines.
- If the Flex System x222 Compute Node is
installed in a chassis, remove it (see Removing a compute node from a chassis for
instructions).
- Carefully lay the compute node on a flat, static-protective
surface, orienting the compute node with the bezel pointing toward
the left.
To install the fabric connector,
complete the following steps.
- Remove the upper compute node (see Removing the upper compute node).
- Locate the fabric connector
location in the lower compute node (see System-board layouts).
- Orient the fabric connector
on the lower system board.
Attention: Make sure that the fabric connector
is secure, but do not overtighten the screws to avoid damaging the
connector.
- Using a long-shank P1 Phillips screwdriver,
tighten the four captive screws to secure the fabric connector.
After you install the
fabric connector,
complete the following steps:
- Install the upper compute node (see Installing the upper compute node for instructions).
- Install the Flex System x222 Compute Node into
the chassis (see Installing a compute node in a chassis for
instructions).
