Installing the chassis bulkhead

Use this information to install the chassis bulkhead. The chassis bulkhead is installed on the lower compute node of the Flex System x222 Compute Node.

Before you install the chassis bulkhead, complete the following steps:
  1. Read Safety and Installation guidelines.
  2. Carefully lay the lower compute node on a flat, static-protective surface, orienting the compute node with the bezel pointing away from you.

To install the chassis bulkhead, complete the following steps.

  1. Position the bulkhead in the lower compute node.
  2. Using a T8 Torx screwdriver, install the screws that secure the bulkhead to the sides of the lower compute node.
  3. Carefully place the lower compute node on its side with the front handle side up.
  4. Using a T8 Torx screwdriver, install the screws that secure the bulkhead to the bottom of the lower compute node.
  5. Carefully return the lower compute node to the bottom-side-down orientation.
  6. Install the fabric connector in the lower compute node (see Installing the fabric connector).
  7. Install the I/O expansion adapter in the lower compute node, if you removed one (see Installing an I/O expansion adapter).
After you install the chassis bulkhead, complete the following steps:
  1. Install the upper compute node onto the lower compute node (see Installing the upper compute node for instructions).
  2. Install the Flex System x222 Compute Node into the chassis (see Installing a compute node in a chassis for instructions).
