Hard disk drive problems

Use this information to resolve hard disk drive problems.

Compute node fails to recognize drive

Complete the following steps until the problem is solved.
  1. Verify that the drive is supported for this compute node. See the Lenovo ServerProven website for a list of supported hard drives.
  2. Make sure that the drive is seated in the drive bay properly and that there is no physical damage to the drive connectors.
  3. Run the DSA Hard Drive: Self Test diagnostic test (see Lenovo Dynamic System Analysis).
    1. If the drive fails the diagnostic test, replace the drive.
    2. If the drive passes the diagnostic tests but is still not recognized, complete the following steps:
      1. Replace the drive.
      2. Replace the system-board assembly (see Removing a system-board assembly and Installing a system-board assembly).
