Collecting service data

The Electronic Service Agent monitors, tracks, and captures system hardware errors and hardware and software inventory information, and reports serviceable problems directly to Support. You can also choose to collect data manually. This tool is integrated into the Flex System Manager Service and Support Manager. All information sent is encrypted and stored in a secure database and used for improved problem determination.

Note: Establishing a management connection to the Flex System chassis using the optional Flex System Manager management software initiates an inventory of components installed in the chassis. An inventory can also be manually initiated. The results of an inventory will not be visible until the inventory completes. If many Flex System x222 Compute Nodes are installed in the chassis, the inventory process is slowed due to the dual-node architecture of the Flex System x222 Compute Node and could take 45 minutes to complete. Additional inventories running at the same time could cause the chassis inventory to exceed 45 minutes. For more information about the optional Flex System Manager management software, see the "Flex System Manager Software: Installation and Service Guide".

For more information about the Electronic Service Agent and how to set it up, see the documentation at "Setting up Electronic Service Agent (ESA)".
