Hard disk drive problems
Use this information to solve hard disk drive problems.
Compute node fails to recognize one drive
Complete the following steps until the problem is solved:
Verify that the drive is supported for this compute node. See
the Lenovo ServerProven website
for a list of supported hard disk drives.
Make sure that the drive is correctly seated in the drive bay and that there is no physical damage to the drive connectors.
Run the DSA SAS Fixed Disk or SAS Attached Disk diagnostic tests (see
Lenovo Dynamic System Analysis
).
If the drive fails the diagnostic test, replace the drive.
If the drive passes the diagnostic tests but is still not recognized, complete the following steps:
Replace the drive.
Replace the hard drive backplane (see
Removing the hard disk drive backplane
and
Installing the hard disk drive backplane
).
Replace the system-board assembly (see
Removing the system-board assembly
and
Installing the system-board assembly
).
