Use this information to resolve optional device and FRU
installation problems.
Follow the suggested actions in the order in which they
are listed in the Action column until the problem is solved.
The optional
device and FRU installation problems table is a two-column table that
lists the symptoms and corrective actions for optional device and
FRU installation failures. Column 1 lists the symptom. Column 2 describes
the corrective actions for each symptom.

- See Parts listing, Types 7167 and 2590 to
determine which components are customer replaceable units (CRU) and
which components are field replaceable units (FRU) that must be replaced
only by a trained service technician.
- If an action step is preceded by "(Trained service technician
only)," that step must be performed only by a trained service technician.

External USB device not recognized |
- Make sure that the correct device drivers are installed on the
compute node. See the product documentation for the USB device for
information about device drivers.
- Use the Setup utility to make sure that the device is configured
correctly.
- If the USB device is connected to a hub or the console breakout
cable, disconnect the device and connect it directly into the USB
port on the front of the compute node.
- Run the DSA USB diagnostic tests.

PCIe adapters not recognized/functioning |
- Check the event log and resolve any issues related to the device.
- See the Lenovo ServerProven website to validate
that the adapter is supported.
- Make sure that the adapter is installed in a correct slot.
- Make sure that the correct device drivers are installed for the
device.
- Resolve any resource conflicts if running legacy mode (UEFI).
- Check the Lenovo Support Portal for
any service bulletins.
- Make sure that any adapter external connections are correct and
that the connectors are not physically damaged.
