Using the command-line interface

The command-line interface (CLI) is an important primary interface into IBM® Flex System Manager management software, and it can be used to accomplish simple tasks that are not easily accomplished from a graphical user interface. The IBM Flex System Manager management software includes a library of commands that you can use to configure the management software or perform many of the systems-management operations that can be accomplished from the management software web interface.

To open a CLI prompt from the management software console, right-click the screen background and select Terminal.

Note:
  1. For security, the CLI runs only on the management node. You can run the CLI remotely by using a remote-access utility such as Secure Shell (SSH).
  2. With the default management software security policy (Secure), any SSH client with network connectivity can be used to access the CLI.
  3. To use unencrypted communication protocols such as Telnet, the management software security policy must be set to Legacy. See Changing the management software security policy for more information. You can also use the command chLegacyProtocol to enable or disable legacy protocols for the management node.
