Unable to import updates from network mounted directories

Update Manager is unable to import updates from network mounted directories in Windows.

Problem

When using the importupd command or Import Updates task, if the path given is for a network mounted directory, the message “The specified file {path} was not found.” is displayed and no updates are imported.

Explanation

The Server service runs as a local Windows service, which does not have access to network shares mounted in user space. All IBM® Flex System Manager command-line interface (smcli) commands are actually performed by the running server and not by smcli.

Resolution

Copy the updates to a local drive and import the updates from there.
