Compliance is not accurate for a system

Update manager incorrectly indicates that a system is out of compliance.

Problem

A system is shown as being in compliance when the administrator knows it to be out of compliance, or a system is shown as being out of compliance after an install has been performed that should have brought it into compliance.

Investigation

Ensure that the system is unlocked and the latest software inventory has been collected. After collection, the inventory data can take some time to be fully processed, at which point the compliance information should be accurate. Processing of inventory occurs at a default time interval of ten minutes, so you should wait at least this long for inventory processing to start.
The manner in which compliance is configured also needs to be considered.
  • If a dynamic update group is being used, only updates determined to be needed by the system will cause a out-of-compliance indication.
  • If a static update group is being used, only updates that are applicable to the system will cause an out-of-compliance indication.
In either of these cases, the inventory data must be current and processed in order for accurate results to be displayed.

Resolution

Unlock the system and ensure that the latest inventory has been collected.
