Removing an adapter-retention assembly

Use this information to remove an adapter-retention assembly. The adapter-retention assembly is in the lower compute node.

Before you remove an adapter-retention assembly, complete the following steps:
  1. Read Safety and Installation guidelines.
  2. If the Flex System x222 Compute Node is installed in a chassis, remove it (see Removing a compute node from a chassis for instructions).
  3. Carefully lay the compute node on a flat, static-protective surface, orienting the compute node with the bezel pointing toward the left.
The adapter-retention assembly consists of multiple separate parts. You can replace only the parts that you choose and save the unused parts for future use.

To remove an adapter-retention assembly, complete the following steps.

Graphic illustrating removing an adapter-retention assembly

  1. Remove the upper compute node (see Removing the upper compute node).
  2. Using a T10 Torx screwdriver, remove the screws that secure each part of the adapter-retention assembly to the compute node.
  3. Lift each part of the adapter-retention assembly from the lower system board.
  4. Carefully return the compute node to the bottom-side-down orientation.
If you are instructed to return an adapter-retention assembly, follow all packaging instructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
