Installing an adapter-retention assembly

Use this information to install an adapter-retention assembly in the lower compute node.

Before you install an adapter-retention assembly, complete the following steps:
  1. Read Safety and Installation guidelines.
  2. If the Flex System x222 Compute Node is installed in a chassis, remove it (see Removing a compute node from a chassis for instructions).
  3. Carefully lay the compute node on a flat, static-protective surface, orienting the compute node with the bezel pointing toward the left.
The adapter-retention assembly consists of multiple separate parts. You can replace only the parts that you choose and save the unused parts for future use.

To install an adapter-retention assembly, complete the following steps.

  1. Remove the upper compute node (see Removing the upper compute node).
  2. Carefully place the lower compute node on its side with the front handle side up.
  3. Align each part of the adapter-retention assembly on the lower system board.
  4. Using a T10 Torx screwdriver, install the screws that secure each part of the adapter-retention assembly.
  5. Carefully return the compute node to the bottom-side-down orientation.
  6. Install the I/O expansion adapters, if you removed them (see Installing an I/O expansion adapter).
